Well, good luck to you WD. Although I don't have that specific malady, I have been struggling with gremlins on my Bandit. Found that even turning the now unused carb vent outlet barbs down instead of up caused a sigificant difference in how the bike ran giving me a flat spot, stutter even) from 5500 to 6500 rpm. I switched four things at once instead of one at a time (Gsxr intake cam, Stage 2 carb work, milled head .025" and stepped headers)only to lose 8.4 ft lbs of torque to gain 4.4 horse and in the process, picked up a flat spot in both performance curves on the dyno. Though mine are self inflicted, I can relate.
